The works comprised the removal of all existing coverings back to the concrete deck/abutments. The deck was then prepared/primed and an IKO Ultra Torch-On VCL applied, followed by the installation of an IKO PIR MG Tapered CFC-free rigid polyisocyanurate insulation scheme fully bonded to the vapour control layer in IKO PU Insulation Adhesive. This was then laid with a two coat 20mm Permaphalt, polymer modified mastic asphalt on an IKO separating membrane (sheathing felt) loose laid with minimum 50mm side and end laps. The surface of the final coat was then rubbed with clean coarse sand including, details/finishes.
The project formed part of a much larger main contract package of work via a Principal Contractor, with works being undertaken on a historic nine-storey 1930’s building. The roof installation was protected by a temporary scaffold roof on a confined site with limited access. Communication and liaison with the Principal Contractor was vital on this project to ensure its successful delivery and to avoid delaying other trades especially during the construction of the raised parapet walls.
On completion a White Solar Reflective Coating was applied to all exposed Permaphalt and any lead flashings strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The work also included for new compliant rooflight, formation of lead chutes and pipe collars.
On completion a 20-year materials and workmanship guarantee was issued to the client
